Starting up with a beautiful slam from Saul Williams, into one of my favorite hip hop tune, discovered few years ago in the Ninja Tune XX Box Set. This label, and specially this special release celebrating 20 years “of beats and pieces”, opened me up to a whole new universe where I found myself unable to name which genre I was listening to. This had a huge impact on my musical journey. Sometimes people ask “what kind of music do you play?” I remember saying “I’m quite eclectic. I play soulful music”. That doesn’t say much to most people, but I think this is what all DJs should be about – playing all kind of “feel good” music, with soul, coming from the heart. It’s our role to spread the love through music and attitude (like being ourselves, smiling, enjoying the moment).
